Fortaleza Falls to Fourth in Série B Following Home Draw with CRB
Fortaleza missed an opportunity to climb to third place in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B after drawing 2.2 with CRB at the Arena Castelão on Monday, October 12, 2026. Diário do Nordeste reported that under the direction of coach Paulo Autuori, the club reached its sixth draw in seven home matches in the tournament. The result leaves Leão do Pici with 57 points in fourth place, while CRB advanced to 52 points in seventh place, according to Gazeta Esportiva.
The match started with early pressure from the visitors before Fortaleza struck first. At the 11th minute of the opening half, Maílton collected a pass from Cantillo and fired a crossed shot past goalkeeper Vitor Caetano to open the scoring. CRB pressed for an equalizer, testing home goalkeeper João Ricardo with attempts from Mikael and Dadá Belmonte. The visitors broke through in the 42nd minute when Thiaguinho drove down the right flank, cut inside, and shot from outside the box to equalize.
Just three minutes later, right before halftime, Maílton sent a delivery into the penalty area that caused confusion in the CRB defense. Goalkeeper Vitor Caetano and defender Pedro Castro collided, sending the ball into the net as an own goal credited to Pedro Castro. That sequence sent Fortaleza into the halftime break with a 2-1 lead.
Second-Half Equalizer Seals Shared Points at Arena Castelão
CRB erased the deficit shortly after the interval. In the 11th minute of the second half, Crystopher collected a clean pass from Danielzinho inside the penalty area and finished past João Ricardo without defensive pressure, evening the score at 2-2. Both teams traded offensive chances as the half progressed, with Fortaleza introducing substitutes and testing the CRB defense through Rodriguinho, Mucuri, and Lucas Gazal.
João Ricardo anchored the Fortaleza defense against persistent attempts from Mikael and Vinícius Nunes, while Vitor Caetano turned away a header from Lucas Gazal off a corner kick by Maílton. Despite late pushes from both sides, neither team found a winner. The final whistle confirmed a shared point that kept Fortaleza in fourth place, one point ahead of the chasing pack, while leaving CRB one point shy of Atlético-GO in the standings.
