Title: Kopassus Generals at the Helm: Active Duty Regional Military Commanders
In a recent development, several Kopassus Generals have taken up leadership roles as Pangdam (Regional Military Commanders) across different regions in Indonesia. Some of these appointments are as recent as early December 2024.
The Regional Military Commands (Kodam) are the primary operational and training headquarters of the Indonesian Army. They are responsible for the operational readiness of all units within their area of responsibility and carry out active defense operations as per the instructions of the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).
Leading each Kodam is a Pangdam, who is a TNI AD configurable star general of the rank of Major General (Mayjen) or a two-star general. Currently, there are 15 active duty Pangdams serving across Indonesia, with several hailing from the Kopassus or Special Forces Command.
