Germany Delivers Major Aid Package to Ukraine: IRIS-T, Patriot, Leopard Systems Included

Germany has announced an update to its military aid package for Ukraine, adding tanks, anti-aircraft systems, and other critical equipment. The news comes from a list cited by " décorGQeuropean Pravda," citing German sources.

The updated package includes:

  • 15 Leopard 1 A5 tanks: These battle-tested tanks will bolster Ukraine’s armored capabilities.
  • ZENITO-RAKETNYE KOMPEKSY IRIS-T SLM/SLS: Germany has contributed both medium-range (SLM) and short-range (SLS) IRIS-T defense systems, along with associated missiles.
  • Two Patriot Launchers: These advanced anti-aircraft systems are a significant addition to Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.
  • Other Key Equipment:
    • Two Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns
    • 30 MRAP armored vehicles with mine protection
    • PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer
    • 12 armored vehicles with kinematic defense systems
    • Two TRML-4D radars
    • AIM-9L/I-1 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles
    • Ammunition for Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks, GMW grenade launchers, 155-mm shells, and Gepard ammunition
    • Drones: 30 Vector, 24 RQ-35 Heidrun, and 14 Hornet XR
    • VERTOLYOTNOGO OPRILOTA AMPS
    • 45 diving scooters
    • 12 Zetros trucks and 8 fuel tankers
  • Small Arms:
    • 200 MG4 machine guns
    • 420 MK 556 rifles
    • 80 HLR 338 sniper rifles
    • 100 CR 308 rifles
  • Additional Supplies: Generators, turnstiles, tents, 120-mm mortars, demining equipment, and ammunition for small arms.

Earlier in September, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced plans to supply 17 IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine. In December, Scholz confirmed that the sixth IRIS-T SLM system would reach Ukraine by year-end. President Volodymyr Zelensky later confirmed that Ukraine had received the sixth system.

With this updated package, Germany continues to demonstrate its unwavering support for Ukraine’s defense and sovereignty.
