Regional Health Law Faces Financial Clarity Call; Industry Voices Concerns
The Ministry of Economy has requested clarification on the financial coverage of a regional law that allows the health assessment department to recognize a 7% tariff adjustment for certain healthcare facilities starting from the 2024 financial year. These facilities include rehabilitation structures for psycho-physical-sensory disabled individuals, supervised therapeutic communities, assisted nursing homes, and day centers for autistic subjects. This news was announced by Luigi Marano, the regional president of Confcommercio Salute Sanità e Cura.
Marano stated, "As a sector federation, we appeal to the sensitivity of the regional president and the whole government to ensure this vital norm, applauded by all sector organizations, is finally implemented. We urge the regional president and the competent department to intervene authoritatively so that this norm meets the needs of a particular segment of the healthcare sector that has faced enormous economic challenges while providing dignified care for a wide range of vulnerable individuals."
Marano continued, "The involved companies have not received any tariff adjustments for years, and it’s crucial to note that the planned increase justifies the recent collective contract renewals and inflation-driven cost increments, which far exceed the 7% norm. Moreover, these micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises constitute about 50% of Italy’s export, making their sustainable operation and high-quality assistance a national priority."
