Venezuela in Turmoil: Daughter of President-Elect Edmundo González Reports Husband’s Kidnapping
In an alarming development, just days before the anticipated presidential inauguration of Edmundo González, his daughter, Mariana González, has reported the kidnapping of her husband, Rafael Tudares Bracho. The incident has sent shockwaves through the family and the nation, further escalating tensions in an already politically charged atmosphere.
A Terrifying Encounter
Mariana González reported the harrowing event in an emotional statement, expressing her pain and concern: "I denounce before the country and the world that my husband, companion, and father of our children, Rafael Tudares Bracho, was kidnapped by men in hoods in front of our children. Without warning, he was intercepted in his car and taken away."
An Innocent Man, a Family’s Protector
Mariana was quick to defend her husband’s innocence, stating categorically, "Rafael is innocent of any accusation. The only thing he is responsible for is being the protector of our family – his mother, my parents, our children, and the home we’ve built with love, honesty, and respect over the past 13 years."
A Cry for Justice and an Appeal to Humanitarian Values
The distraught wife also questioned the motives behind the abduction, asking, "When did it become a crime to be a family member of Edmundo González Urrutia? Why was my husband taken? What is he accused of? We are an honest, hardworking family committed to upholding respect and peace in our country."
Mariana’s anguish is compounded by the knowledge that her children, like over 2,000 families of political prisoners, will feel the absence of their loved one. "Today, my children will feel the absence of their father, just as the families of over 2,000 political prisoners have felt since the 28th of July. Their only ‘crime’ was being faithful to their democratic values and aspiring for a positive change in our Venezuela."
A Call for Truth and Justice
With unyielding resolve, Mariana maintains her husband’s innocence: "Rafael Tudares has committed no crime. There is no persecution that can break the conviction of an innocent, no setup that can conceal the truth." Her message ends on a note of hope and determination, "Up above, there is a God who sees all."
