Greta Van Fleet Announces Czech Concert in Prague
Rock band Greta Van Fleet will perform in the Czech Republic, heading to Prague’s O2 Arena as part of their Into The Beginning tour, concert promoter Live Nation announced. Guitarist sisters Larkin Poe will join the bill as opening acts, according to the tour details.
Band Origins and Rise to Success
Formed in 2012 by teenagers in Frankenmuth, Michigan, the band features brothers Josh Kiszka on vocals, Jake Kiszka on guitar, and Sam Kiszka on bass and keyboards, alongside drummer Danny Wagner, who joined a year later. Six years after their formation, the group released their debut album and immediately topped the US rock charts with the single “Highway Tune.” Since then, they have sold over 3.5 million records worldwide, performed on Saturday Night Live, and won a Grammy Award for the EP From the Fires, according to Live Nation.
Musical Style and Comparisons to Led Zeppelin
The band blends hard rock, blues rock, and progressive rock, drawing comparisons since their debut to Led Zeppelin, largely driven by Josh Kiszka’s piercing vocals. In a 2018 interview with Loudwire, Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant joked about the similarities, saying the young singer’s voice sounded like the band’s first record. The group’s members cite wider influences ranging from country music to modern acts like The Black Keys, though American critics frequently apply the “classic rock” label.
“It wasn’t like we said at the beginning: ‘Well, now we’re going to play rock and roll.’ That’s just how we sound when we get together and play,” Sam Kiszka told Bulletmusic.net.
Drummer Danny Wagner added in the same interview that their upbringing in a rural part of Michigan—surrounded by woods, cornfields, and rivers rather than the industrial environment of Detroit or Flint—shapes their distinct musical output.
Band Records Modern Rock Album in Tennessee
The group recorded the material in the spring in Tennessee with producer Mike Elizondo, known for his work with Eminem and Turnstile. Singles from the release include “Play Your Games,” “Saw You Stand,” and “Tear It Down,” which dropped recently. Guitarist Jake Kiszka described the new collection to Live Nation as a modern record that retains the band’s core rock sound, following their 2023 studio album Starcatcher.
