Mazatlán ECHOES WITH GUNSHOTS: One Dead, Two Injured in Wednesday Evening Chase and Shooting
Mazatlán residents across strategic sectors heard a rash of gunshots Wednesday evening, leaving one man dead and two others injured, including a woman.
The primary scene unfolded beside the central plaza and the parish in the Francisco Villa colony, but the chase and gunfire rippled across major avenues like Rafael Buelna and nearby areas. Three individuals were traveling in a car when they came under fire, seemingly from several blocks away. The vehicle stopped near the San Juan Apóstol y Evangelista temple.
Inside the car, a man and a woman were injured, while a third person attempted to escape but was pursued and fatally shot at a metalworking shop. The incident occurred around 7:30 PM at the intersection of Toma de Juárez and Lázaro Cárdenas streets.
Both injured individuals were transported to the hospital; the woman’s condition is critical, while the man was undergoing surgery late Wednesday. Strong gunfire reports echoed throughout different Mazatlán neighborhoods, lasting several minutes. Military and municipal police personnel arrived at the scene, with investigators scouring the area for shell casings.
