Breaking News: Shootout in Klepp; Three Injured, Including Two Police Officers
In the early hours of today, police received a report of a potential threat, leading to multiple patrol units being deployed. The situation escalated when police stopped a vehicle in Klepp at approximately 01:35; shots were fired from the vehicle, which was housing the suspect and another person.
A shootout ensued between the suspects and law enforcement. Tragically, the primary suspect and two police officers were hit by gunfire and rushed to Stavanger University Hospital. The suspect and one of the officers are in critical condition, as confirmed by operations leader Victor Fenne-Jensen.
The passenger in the suspect’s car appears to be unharmed and not severely injured. The suspect is identified as a man in his 40s.
The Special Department for Police Affairs has been alerted and is assisting in the investigation.
