Macri Accepts Milei‘s Challenge: "All or Nothing" Alliance on Election 2025 Table

Article:

Former president Mauricio Macri has responded to Javier Milei’s ultimatum for a pre-electoral agreement between PRO and La Libertad Avanza ahead of the 2025 legislative elections. Macri accepted Milei’s conditions, tweeting, "In line with President Milei’s words, ‘Either we go together everywhere, or we go separately; no tricks on the electorate,’ I agree, as that has always been my stance."

However, Macri added four conditions for this potential electoral alliance: "Put all ideas on the table, keep your promises like we did this year, be absolutely transparent with the electorate, and above all, protect the Republic."

Macri’s message comes after Milei stated in an interview with Forbes that if an alliance is not reached nationwide, La Libertad Avanza would run independently. "I refuse categorically the ‘yes in this section, no in this section’ strategy. That’s deceiving the electorate. Either we go together everywhere (with PRO), or we go separately. No tricks," Milei insisted.

The pressure from Milei arrives amidst rumors that Macri could lead the PRO’s Senate ticket in the upcoming legislation elections. Additionally, Buenos Aires City’s chief of government, Jorge Macri, seeks to advance the city’s legislative elections to May-July 2025.

Despite being allies in Congress, tensions between PRO and LLA have escalated recently due to Macri’s frustration over being sidelined from key decisions made by Milei and his inner circle. Macri has criticized Milei’s government for its lack of cooperation with the PRO, despite the party’s crucial role in the national Congress this year.

Macri is challenging Milei to a full alliance or none at all in the 2025 elections, setting the stage for an interesting political dynamic in the coming months.
