Teen Attacked with Metal rod in Montana, Bulgarian Police Detain Suspects for 24 Hours
In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old girl and her 23-year-old friend were severely assaulted with a metal rod on a bustling boulevard in Montana, Bulgaria. The brutal attack occurred on December 26, leaving both victims with critical injuries.
The teenager, identified as Vaneasa, suffered multiple injuries including a broken skull, jaw, and seven lost teeth. Her friend sustained a concussion, broken finger, and other wounds. Both are receiving treatment at the Pirogov Hospital.
The assault is alleged to have been triggered by a scuffle between Vaneasa’s father, Venislav Stamov, and a 20-year-old man at a local nightclub. Despite no personal acquaintance between the victims and their attackers, the assailants, a father and son duo aged 46 and 20, set upon the teens as they were returning home from a night out.
"It’s unacceptable that the attackers were released after just 24 hours. Our children are now in the hospital, while they are probably at home, drinking coffee, and looking at us," stated Albena Stamova, the mother of the injured girl, in an interview with Nova TV.
Police arrested the father and son pair, detaining them for 24 hours. A preliminary investigation has been launched, and further legal action is pending.
This harrowing incident has sparked outrage in the local community, highlighting the urgent need for stricter penalties and more effective justice in cases of violent crimes against youth. The victims’ families are calling for enhanced security measures and increased public awareness to prevent such heinous acts in the future.
