Chinatown’s annual Chinese New Year Parade and Festival will take place this Sunday, marking its 28th anniversary.

The annual parade and festival will feature dragon dancing, martial arts performers, colorful costumes, and firecrackers. The event celebrates a time-honored family holiday meant to welcome great fortune and a long, healthy life.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. At Mott and Canal streets, and will conclude near Sara D. Roosevelt Park around 3:30 p.m.
Street Closures and Viewing Options
The New York Police Department will oversee street closures during the parade. Mott Street between Broome Street and Canal Street, Hester Street between Bowery and Mulberry Street, and Elizabeth Street between Broome Street and Canal Street will be closed as part of the “Formation” area. The parade “Route” will include sections of Mott Street, East Broadway, Eldridge Street, Hester Street, Forsyth Street, and Chatham Square. Forsyth Street between Grand Street and Delancy Street will be used for “Dispersal.”
