In a move to enhance its healthcare services and facilities, the Emergency County Hospital Bistrița has announced plans for a significant expansion, modernization, and reorganization of its existing recovery ward. The project, valued at approximately €9 million (around 44 million lei), is set to transform the current infrastructure and services, with completion targeted within the next two years.
The ambitious project entails several key improvements:

Energy Efficiency and Sustainability: The hospital aims to install heat pumps for water heating and air conditioning, as well as solar panels for a degree of energy self-sufficiency.

New North-East Wing: A new P+4E building will be constructed on the north-east side, housing reception and patient admission areas, treatment rooms, and evacuation routes for patients.

Enhanced Facilities: Each floor will have its own sanitation group, along with dedicated spaces for therapy, in-patient care, and areas for visitors. An elevator specifically designed for those with disabilities will also be installed.

Improved Insulation and Finishes: The ward will benefit from improved thermal and acoustic insulation, with interior joinery replaced to enhance its mechanical resistance and antibacterial properties.
- Electromobility Integration: To cater to the growing trend, an electric vehicle charging station will be installed in the vicinity.
The total estimated cost of the project is approximately €9,000,000 (44,000,000 lei) without VAT, with a proposed implementation period of 24 months following the receipt of the construction permit. Currently, the project is in the phase of obtaining environmental approval.
