Garut: Densus 88 Raids Suspected Terrorist’s House, Seizes Evidence

In a significant development, officers from Indonesia’s elite counter-terrorism unit, Densus 88, conducted a raid on a house in Pangatikan District, Garut, late on Friday night (27/12). The targeted residence belonged to a suspect who was recently apprehended in Tasikmalaya.

The raid was carried out with the support of Garut Police and local village officials, including the head of the village, Ila Nurul Fadila. "The raid took place last night, lasting about an hour," Ila informed detikJabar on Saturday (28/12/2024).

From the operation, Densus 88 team seized three plastic bags containing potential evidence related to the suspect’s alleged involvement in terrorist activities. However, the specific items inside the bags remain unclear.

Ila also shared that the suspect, a man who works as an electrician in Bandung and returns to Garut once a week, keeps to himself and rarely interacts with the community. His wife, meanwhile, runs a small business from their home.

Earlier, it was reported that Densus 88 had apprehended a man suspected of terrorism in Kampung Urug, Desa Jayaratu, Kecamatan Sukawangi, Tasikmalaya, on Friday morning. The suspect was arrested while visiting a local resident’s house. The operation was confirmed by the Head of Tasikmalaya Police, AKBP Haris Dinzah.
