Subhead: Operation aims to prevent "Hamas" redeployment; over 240 suspects arrested

Israel has escalated its operations in northern Gaza, focusing on a major hospital and arresting hundreds of suspects linked to Hamas. The offensive, launched on October 6, aims to thwart Hamas’ redeployment efforts.

In a significant development, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) kicked off a ground operation on Friday morning, targeting Kamal Adwan Hospital, one of two functional medical facilities in the area. The IDF claimed the hospital was being used by Hamas for military operations in the nearby Jabaliya refugee camp.

On Saturday evening, the IDF announced the completion of a targeted operation against Hamas’ command center in the same hospital, resulting in the arrest of over 240 terror suspects. Among those detained was the hospital’s director, Hosam Abu Safiyeh, suspected of involvement in Hamas’ organizational structure.

The IDF spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshan, stated that numerous explosive materials were found in the vicinity of the hospital. In addition to the hospital director, Hamas engineers, anti-tank missile operators, and 15 suspects who infiltrated Israel during last year’s conflict were also apprehended.

Previously, the IDF had deployed forces to Gaza Strip hospitals, alleging that Hamas was utilizing these facilities for its own purposes. The latest offensive highlights the Israeli military’s determination to disrupt Hamas’ activities and suppress the group’s influence in the region.

As the conflict continues, the international community closely monitors the situation, with calls for restraint and dialogue increasing. The impact of the offensive on civilians and infrastructure remains a major concern, with humanitarian aid agencies bracing for potential fallout.
