The minister stated that the detainees hail from a diverse range of countries, including Colombia, the United States, Peru, Spain, Italy, Uruguay, Ukraine, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Lebanon, Albania, the Netherlands, Israel, Germany, Argentina, Guyana, and Yemen.
Cabello provided no further details about the identity or role of the Italian national or the other mercenaries. The arrests follow an ongoing crackdown by Venezuelan authorities on alleged foreign intervention in the country’s internal affairs.
