CNN Indonesia — Mia Amiati, the Chief Prosecutor of East Java, breaks her silence on the controversial shooting incident involving Pradhana Probo, the Chief Prosecutor of Kediri. Reports suggest that Pradhana fired his weapon in self-defense after being confronted by two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle.

The incident occurred on Monday, December 23, at around 8:30 PM local time, on Jalan Imam Bonjol, Kediri, East Java, while Pradhana was traveling with his family. According to Mia, Pradhana was accosted by two unknown motorcyclists who posed a threat to his safety.

In a later development, the assailants were identified as HFL (33), a resident of Kampung Dalem, and AM, a resident of Mojo District. Mia confirmed that Pradhana’s actions were in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) and that he had acted in self-defense.

"Kajari Kediri was forced to take immediate action to protect himself, in accordance with the SOP for law enforcement personnel. This action was taken to anticipate potential greater danger," Mia explained.

Mia stressed that Pradhana’s actions were guided by relevant regulations and SOPs, citing the Law Number 11 of 2021 amending Law Number 16 of 2004 concerning the Prosecution of the Republic of Indonesia. The law, in its eighth section, stipulates that in carrying out their duties and responsibilities, prosecutors may be equipped with firearms and other equipment.

The Chief Prosecutor of East Java also announced that she had coordinated with the police to thoroughly investigate the matter transparently. She emphasized the importance of vigilance in maintaining the safety and security of law enforcement officers in the line of duty.
