Ukrainian authorities have accused Russia of committing a war crime after National Police CCTV captured a small FPV drone pursuing a 52-year-old vegetable seller through a Kherson market before detonating. The vendor survived the August 4, 2026, attack with shrapnel wounds, as international monitors report a sharp surge in civilian casualties.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy condemned the strike, pointing to the footage as proof of an ongoing terror campaign targeting non-combatants far from active frontline trenches.
Yurii Recounts the Market Attack and Drone Pursuit
The 52-year-old vendor, identified by officials only as Yurii, had just arrived with his wife to unload produce from their van when they heard an unfamiliar buzzing sound.
“I only just put up the umbrella and started unloading the boxes. My wife was there, too. Then we heard it buzzing but could not even see it. It came from somewhere behind the market, from those bushes over there, and flew in very low.”

President Zelenskiy used his social media channels to demand stronger international security guarantees and intensified economic pressure on Moscow.
