Kingfishr Confirmed as Fourth Summerstage Act in Groningen on June 17, 2027

Irish folk-rock band Kingfishr will perform their largest-ever Dutch headline show at the Summerstage festival in Groningen’s Stadspark on June 17, 2027. The performance marks a milestone for the trio, who have rapidly built a dedicated following in the Netherlands since their appearance at Eurosonic Noorderslag in 2024.

Kingfishr returns to Groningen for the Weight of the Feather Tour

The upcoming concert is part of the band’s “Weight of the Feather Tour,” which coincides with the release of their second studio album, set for April 9, 2027. The trio, consisting of Eddie Keogh, Eoghan McGrath, and Eoin Fitzgibbon, formed in 2022 while studying engineering at the University of Limerick. The band members transitioned from small pub gigs to domestic chart success, with their track “Killeagh” reaching number one in Ireland. Internationally, the group also found success with the hit “The Sun Will Never Settle.” Their debut album, Halcyon, reached the thirteenth position in the Dutch Album Top 100.

Sons of the East and TikTok Tammo join Kingfishr at Summerstage

Kingfishr will be joined by two supporting acts for the Summerstage event: the Australian indiefolk trio Sons of the East and local favorite TikTok Tammo & Band. Sons of the East, hailing from Sydney, incorporate blues, soul, and country influences into their sound, utilizing acoustic guitars and banjos alongside their signature multi-part vocal harmonies. TikTok Tammo, who has been named both Groninger of the Year and Noordelijk Artiest van het Jaar, will bring a full band to provide a “festive, folky” opening set. Kingfishr is the fourth act announced for the Summerstage series, which also features Noah Kahan on July 1, Toto on July 3, and Robbie Williams on July 10.

Venue changes for the 2027 Summerstage

Organizers at SPOT have confirmed that the Stadspark venue will not feature grandstands for the 2027 edition. Due to the scale of the headlining artists and the potential for audiences reaching 50,000, there is insufficient space on the field for seating structures. This marks a departure from the setup used during the past two years of the concert series.
