Across Trøndelag, Norway, Thursday night saw an increase in challenging driving conditions, with multiple vehicles getting stuck and several roads closing along the coast. The Norwegian Police Service urged drivers to be cautious, advising, "Take care of the weather and wind. If possible, leave your car."
Most reports came from areas near the coast, including Ørland, Hitra, and Frøya. The Norwegian Meteorological Institute (Met Norway) has issued an orange weather alert anticipating significant snowfall in several counties, including Trøndelag and Møre og Romsdal.
Earlier, before midnight, emergency services rushed to a traffic accident on Ytterøya, Levanger, after reports of a truck toppled due to a combination of slippery roads and strong winds. luckily, the driver escaped unharmed.
Met Norway’s warning details heavy snowfall expected in Møre og Romsdal, parts of Sogn og Fjordane, and southern Trøndelag. Locally, accumulations could reach 30-50 cm within 24 hours, with higher amounts possible in mountainous regions.
Strong winds are also forecast, potentially reaching full storm strength by Friday. Southern Trøndelag may experience the worst gusts in the morning, with northern Sogn og Fjordane and Møre og Romsdal following later in the day.
Road users are advised to stay updated with local traffic reports and adjust their driving according to road conditions.
