Lou Ferrigno Vatical Visit
“Jsem tady, protože setkat se s papežem byl můj celoživotní sen,” Lou Ferrigno said during a general audience on St. Peter’s Square, according to ReadZone. The actor, famous for playing the green monster in the television series The Incredible Hulk, is celebrating his 75th birthday on Monday, November 9.
Ferrigno traveled to the Vatican at the end of September. As a descendant of Italian immigrants from Amalfi, he grew up in a Catholic family and served as an altar boy. At the audience, he flexed his biceps for photographers in a recreation of his character’s transformation.
Lifelong Papal Ambition
“Jsem velmi, velmi poctěn, že tu mohu být a vidět papeže Lva, protože je to můj celý život, splněný sen,” Ferrigno stated, according to ReadZone. He added that the world urgently needs a great leader who brings kindness and peace.
The role in the 1977 television series came after original lead Richard Kiel was deemed insufficiently muscular by the director. Ferrigno, then a 196-centimeter-tall and 125-kilogram young man from Brooklyn, won a nationwide casting call that also included Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Ferrigno Maintains His Physique and Serves as Deputy Sheriff

He shared a gym video this autumn noting that he still enjoys lifting iron after all these years. For the past twenty years, Ferrigno has worked as a reserve deputy sheriff in Los Angeles County. He also previously helped train Michael Jackson for his This Is It concerts, won the Mr. Universe bodybuilding title twice, and appeared in the film Forgotten Fortune at the end of 2025.
