Zelensky: Lukashenko Admitted Launching Missiles From Belarus, Offered to Strike Oil Refinery

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed that he had a phone conversation with self-proclaimed Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko during the early days of Russia‘s full-scale invasion. According to Zelensky, Lukashenko expressed remorse for missile launches conducted from Belarusian territory.

"Lukashenko said, ‘It wasn’t me, Putin launched missiles from my territory.’ He apologized, stating, ‘Believe me, Vladimir, I told him not to, it was done without my knowledge,’" Zelensky recounted, adding that he had witnesses to the conversation.

Zelensky underscored that he responded to Lukashenko by calling him an "equal killer" to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Lukashenko, however, asserted that "one cannot fight with Russians" and even suggested targeting an oil refinery, stating, "Understand, you can’t fight with Russians. He said, ‘Well, then strike the oil refinery, you know how much it means to me.’ I said, ‘What are you talking about?’" Zelensky recalled.

It is worth noting that Lukashenko has actively supported Russia’s actions against Ukraine, providing his country’s territory for Russian troops to use as a staging ground for attacks. He has repeatedly referred to the war as a "special military operation" and justified Russia’s aggression.

Furthermore, it has been reported that Lukashenko has asked Putin to deploy the "Oreshnik" missile system on Belarusian territory. However, it is essential to mention that Belarusian forces have not directly participated in combat operations on Ukrainian soil.
