Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill confirmed the shocking revelation during a press conference, stating, "Our Medical Examiner’s office has determined that the individual received a gunshot wound to the head prior to the vehicle explosion." The sheriff added that a firearm was found in Liovelieberger’s possession, recovered from near his feet.

Liovelieberger, a former serviceman with the elite U.S. Army Special Forces unit known as "Green Berets," was on leave at the time of the incident. His military identification was found in the Tesla ‘Cybertruck’ which he had been driving.

The 34-year-old had joined the U.S. Army in 2006 and served in the Arctic-warfare-focused 10th Special Forces Group, as reported by the Associated Press, cited by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.
