Man of Advanced Age Shoots Himself After Refusing to Pay After Accident

In a shocking incident, a man in his 70s shot himself in the Benito Juárez municipality of Mexico City following a car crash on Avenida Insurgentes Sur and Calle Pilares in the Del Valle neighborhood. The victim, identified as Víctor Hugo, fled the scene but was later found inside his yellow Pontiac with a gunshot wound.

Witnesses, including another driver involved in the accident, Julio Aguilar, reported that Víctor Hugo had been driving recklessly and was traveling at high speeds before the collision. When confronted, Víctor Hugo reportedly stated, "I don’t have insurance, I’ll give you 10,000 pesos to fix it," before returning to his vehicle and shooting himself.

Emergency services transported the elderly man, who had a .22 caliber gunshot wound, to the Xoco Hospital. Initial reports suggest that Víctor Hugo was under the influence of medications found in his vehicle. Police cordoned off the area, and both vehicles remain in custody pending further investigation.
