Manpower Minister Yassierli Opens InaSkills 2026 Competition

The 2026 Indonesia Skills Competition (InaSkills) officially opened on Tuesday at the Manpower Ministry’s Vocational Building in Jakarta, bringing together 90 participants in a national effort to transform the country’s workforce. Manpower Minister Yassierli stated at the opening ceremony that the competition marks a vital step in the ongoing restructuring of national manpower capabilities.

Ninety Participants Compete Across Five Fields and One Exhibition

Running through October 31, the event features 50 competitors testing their abilities across five core competition fields, alongside 40 participants in a dedicated exhibition category. Assessments for the competitors follow international standards to evaluate practical proficiency in specialized trades. Minister Yassierli expressed confidence that the event will demonstrate that Indonesia’s human resources match the competence of workforces in developed nations.

A panel of 30 judges oversees the evaluation process across the competition fields. These specialized fields comprise Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Industrial Automation, Hotel Reception, Mechanical Engineering CAD, and Internet of Things (IoT). The exhibition field also showcases microsoldering skills demonstrated by members of Indonesian Mobile Phone Technicians (TESPOIN).

Three Training Centers Host National Talent Development

Events and assessments are distributed across three distinct regional facilities. These hosting venues include the Bekasi Major Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BBPVP), the Serang Major Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BBPVP), and AKTI Karawang. This multi-site setup accommodates the specialized infrastructure required for technical evaluations ranging from industrial automation to mechanical engineering CAD.

The competition operates as a core component of a broader national skills talent development pipeline. This structured framework moves from talent source identification through test projects, formal assessments, targeted training camps, and eventual capacity building. Winners secure opportunities to enter specialized training programs at the Manpower Ministry’s training center and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea (HRDK).

By assessing competitors’ abilities according to international standards, the ministry aims to prepare Indonesia’s workforce for opportunities in international skills competitions ranging from WorldSkills ASEAN to WorldSkills International.

Pathways to International Skills Competitions

Success at the national level serves as a direct gateway to global arenas. Competitors who secure victories in their respective fields earn the chance to advance to major international contests. These prospective pathways extend from WorldSkills ASEAN and WorldSkills Asia up to WorldSkills International.

As the ministry pushes for advanced 4.0 skills within the manufacturing workforce, broader recognition of worker qualifications remains a primary objective. Policymakers have proposed wider ASEAN recognition of worker skills to facilitate labor mobility and integration across regional markets.
