Major Fire Erupts at Industrial Complex in Pijnacker-Nootdorp
The first report of the fire came in at precisely 8:01 PM, with initial firefighting efforts led by teams from Pijnacker-Nootdorp and Leidschendam-Voorburg. However, the blaze quickly escalated and was upgraded to a ‘major fire’ within eight minutes. The intense flames emitted large amounts of dark smoke that could be seen from a distance, drawing the attention of passersby.
In addition to the initial responders, firefighting efforts were bolstered by crews from Rijswijk, Wateringen, and De Lier. The fire engulfed a business complex that houses various enterprises, including a transport company.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, although it is suspected that it started in wooden pallets adjacent to the building before spreading to the structure itself. Deliberate arson cannot be ruled out.
Earlier today, another significant fire occurred at an apartment complex on Woensdrechthof in Nootdorp.
- Updates at 8:45 PM and 9:00 PM indicate that while the visibility of flames has decreased, the potential damage to the building’s facade and roof is severe. Moreover, flames have reignited at the rear of the complex, prompting the deployment of a drone team for aerial observation.
