‘S-Gravenzande: Large Cache of Illegal Fireworks Seized, EOD Responds
In a significant find on Friday afternoon, police discovered a substantial amount of illegal fireworks in a residence on Tulpstraat, ‘s-Gravenzande. Among the illicit cache was an assortment of heavy-duty and altered fireworks, posing a serious safety risk.
A Team Leader from the Explosives Verification Team (TEV) was swiftly dispatched to the scene to assess the situation. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was also promptly called in to ensure the safe removal of the restricted materials.
Specialized technicians from a private company have begun the meticulous process of carefully securing the fireworks. Although the exact quantity has not been disclosed, authorities are treating the case with the utmost urgency and caution.
This seizure comes hot on the heels of two similar incidents in recent months. On December 11, 2022, a substantial quantity of illegal fireworks, including hundreds of cobras, was discovered in a barn in Delft. In a separate incident on November 22, 2022, an enormous trove of illegal fireworks was found in a commercial building in The Hague.
Authorities remind the public that the illegal storage and use of fireworks can result in severe penalties, including fines and imprisonment.
