Ukraine-Talks Planned Irrespective of US Election Outcome; US Greenlights $500M Aid package

On Thursday, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced a new round of military aid for Ukraine worth $500 million. This is the final package of assistance to Ukraine under the Biden administration.
US officials have emphasized their efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s position before any negotiations begin. There were expectations that the White House could impose additional sanctions on Russia before the inauguration of the newly elected US President, Donald Trump.
Trump’s special envoy for peace in Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, stated this week on Fox News his intention to find a way to end the conflict within 100 days of Trump’s inauguration.
