PDIP sounding alarm on attempts to disrupt party ahead of Congress V
Jakarta, CNN Indonesia — The Central Leadership Board (DPP) of the PDIP party has instructed all its members to be on high alert against attempts by certain parties to disrupt the party ahead of its Congress V set for 2025.
In response to numerous banners and posters circulating, calling into question the legitimacy of Megawati Soekarnoputri‘s extended leadership since last June, the DPP’s Head of Legal Affairs, Ronny Talapessy, announced at a press conference on Thursday (19/12) evening, "The spreading of these inflammatory banners has created a level 1 alert within the PDI Perjuangan, ready to react against any attempts to ‘disrupt’ the PDI Perjuangan as stated by Ibu Megawati."
PDIP suspects that there are efforts from various quarters to disrupt the party’s chairwoman and its structure. Talapessy pointed out that PDIP is a legally registered party with an act notary No. 05 dated 27 June 2024. The new structure of leadership, extended until 2025, has also been legally approved by the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, as per the SK No. M.HH-05.11.02 Year 2024, dated 1 July 2024.
Talapessy emphasized that the legitimacy of PDIP and its leadership is undeniable and serves as a strong foundation for the party to carry out its political duties. He further explained that the extension of the party’s leadership term is in accordance with Article 28 of the party’s charter and Article 15 of the party’s Rules of Procedure. Furthermore, this extension is a prerogative of the Chairperson, as mandated by the party’s Congress and its fifth General Assembly.
