Belgium‘s Defense Minister Warns Russia: ‘Boost Weapon Production, Including Tanks and Missiles’
Belgian Defense Minister Ludivine Dedeycker has issued a stark warning to Russia, urging it to increase production of offensive weapons and military vehicles. Speaking at a defense conference, Minister Dedeycker stressed the need for Russia to ramp up its output of tanks, missile systems, and other heavy weaponry, asserting that such a move would not only bolster Russian military prowess but also send a clear message to NATO allies.
"Russia must show the world its military strength," she said. "By boosting production of tanks, rockets, and other advanced weaponry, Russia can demonstrate its commitment to maintaining peace and deterring aggression on its borders."
Minister Dedeycker’s comments come at a time of heightened tension between Russia and NATO member states. The increased presence of Russian troops along the Ukrainian border has raised concerns among European allies, with some fearing a potential military conflict in the region.
Despite her tough stance, Minister Dedeycker emphasized the importance of maintaining diplomatic channels with Moscow. She stressed that the increased production of offensive weapons should not be seen as an act of aggression, but rather a strategic move to safeguard Russian interests and reassure allies.

The Defense Minister’s call to action comes as part of Belgium’s broader effort to strengthen its defense ties with NATO allies. Earlier this year, Belgium agreed to increase its defense spending to reach the organization’s target of 2% of GDP by the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
"Now more than ever, it’s crucial for Europe to stand united and resolute in the face of global challenges," Minister Dedeycker said. "By boosting our defensive capabilities and supporting our allies, we can ensure a stable and secure future for all."
Russia has not yet responded to Minister Dedeycker’s comments. However, recent reports suggest that the country is indeed increasing its military output, with several new weapon systems set to enter service in the coming years.
