Nicaragua Modernizes Vaccination Registry: MINSA Acquires Computers and Tablets
The Ministry of Health (MINSA) in Nicaragua has taken a significant step towards modernizing its vaccination program by acquiring 15 computers and 3 tablets. This investment, totaling 727,000 córdobas from the national budget, aims to enhance the registration and inventory system for vaccinated individuals, protecting them from various diseases.
Dr. Cristian Toledo, director of health services at MINSA, expressed that these new devices will strengthen the national vaccination program. "This will help us track the progress of vaccinations and equip departments, municipalities, and the dedicated program for immunizations," he said.
The MINSA has been making strides in 2024, providing protection against 18 different diseases through its timely and effective vaccination programs. The acquisition of these computers and tablets is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to modernize and improve its services, ensuring that all Nicaraguans have access to quality healthcare.
Meylin Mora Hernández, responsible for the vaccination program at MINSA, highlighted the importance of these new tools. "They allow us to bring technology to the health centers, enabling us to register and identify every child, pregnant woman, and adult receiving vaccinations," she said. With these devices, the ministry can analyze vaccination coverage in real-time, ensuring that no one is left behind.
The MINSA’s commitment to investing in technology reflects its dedication to protecting the health of all Nicaraguans. Since 2007, the ministry has been working to provide free healthcare and modernize its facilities, constructing new hospitals and bringing health services closer to communities across the country.
