WEKEROM, Netherlands – On Saturday around 5:45 PM, a car on the Otterloseweg in Wekerom went up in flames, bringing responses from Otterlo’s fire brigade. Upon arrival, they found the vehicle fully engulfed, but the driver fortunately managed to escape unharmed.
The driver recounts that he had inadvertently filled the car with gasoline instead of the required diesel. As he drove towards Wekerom, the vehicle started to stutter. He pulled over, and moments later, the car was consumed by flames.
The Otterloseweg was promptly closed to all traffic between Otterlo and Wekerom due to the incident. Firefighters struggled to contain the blaze, as the car’s fuel tank had ruptured. After 45 tense minutes, they finally brought the fire under control.
A tow truck operator will remove the burnt-out vehicle. Luckily, no injuries were reported.
