Mosquito Spraying Scheduled in Iva Following West Nile Virus Case

Anderson County officials have scheduled mosquito spraying for November 13 in the Iva area following a confirmed case of West Nile virus. The operation will cover a one-mile radius in the area of Barnes Station Road and Manning Road, according to Anderson County Emergency Management.

The county is coordinating the effort with Gregory Pest Solutions. Officials described the measure as a precaution.

Beekeepers Protect Hives Inside Spray Zone

The pesticide designated for this operation is water-based. According to multiple reports from FOX Carolina, WSPA, and WYFF, officials maintain that the substance does not pose a health risk to humans or animals.

Despite the safety assessment for humans and pets, beekeepers in the area are receiving specific guidance. Authorities advise that those with hives within the one-mile spray zone should either relocate their bees or cover the hives until the treatment is finished.
