Woman Detained for Allegedly Beating and Submerging 5-Year-Old Stepson in Water Tank
A 20-year-old woman, identified as Amalia Vanessa "N," has been arrested after allegedly assaulting and immersing her 5-year-old stepson in a water tank at their home in the Desarrollo Urbano Quetzalcóatl neighborhood of Iztapalapa, Mexico City.
The boy’s aunt called the Mexico City Police (Policía de la CDMX), who arrived at the scene to find the child with multiple injuries and wet. The minor told officers that his stepmother had struck him repeatedly and submerged him in the water tank.
Paramedics from the local Civil Protection agency who attended to the child diagnosed him with multiple injuries and abrasions, but he did not require hospitalization. During a preventive review, police recovered a knife approximately 20 centimeters long from the suspect.
Vanessa "N" was then presented to the responsible Public Ministry agent, who will determine her legal situation and initiate the relevant investigation file.
As of this report, the child remains under the care of authorities from the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (Fiscalía General de Justicia de la Ciudad de México).
