Article:
In an unusual turn of events, Danish police are probing reports of numerous drones buzzing over the port of Frederikshavn, located some 45 kilometers northwest of the capital, Copenhagen. The incident, which occurred on January 3, has sparked concerns about potential security threats and unauthorized drone activity.
An eyewitness alerted the police about the sighting, claiming to have seen around 20 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) taking off and flying in the direction of the Skagerrak strait at high speed. However, when police arrived at the scene, they spotted only four large drones hovering above the mole.
Authorities are now working to determine the total number of drones involved and their respective owners. It’s worth noting that no permits for drone flights were issued in the area at the time of the incident.
This is not an isolated case. Police across Europe are investigating similar reports of unidentified drones, with fears growing about potential "hybrid attacks" orchestrated by Russia. In recent months, mysterious drone sightings have been reported near critical infrastructure and military bases in countries like the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
In December alone, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) received around 5,000 reports of unauthorized drone activity, with only about 100 deemed worthy of further investigation. U.S. President Donald Trump has called for the shooting down of unidentified drones.
As the world grapples with the growing threat of rogue drones, authorities are stepping up their efforts to identify and mitigate potential security risks. The incident in Frederikshavn serves as a stark reminder that the skies above are no longer empty, and that vigilance is key in an era of increasing drone activity.
