Thirteen-year-old North West revealed in a new Dazed magazine cover story published on August 24 that she wants a bridge piercing but is not allowed by her parents to get it.
North West is no stranger to bold fashion choices. As the eldest daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West continues to experiment with personal style, she recently sat down with Dazed magazine as their fall cover star, with Gus Van Sant photographing the shoot. During the interview, she discussed her affinity for body jewelry and the one specific accessory that remains off-limits.
Why North West Wants a Bridge Piercing and What Stays Off-Limits
While North has already accumulated a collection of real and fake studs adorning her fingers, hands, and face over the past year, her parents have drawn a strict line when it comes to the center of her face. A bridge piercing runs horizontally through the skin on the upper nose between the eyes.

When speaking to Dazed, North explained her motivation for wearing body jewelry simply: [Piercings] just make you your full self.
Although she cannot get the bridge piercing done permanently yet, she has already tested out the aesthetic by wearing fake jewelry in selfies shared to Instagram and during her magazine cover photoshoot, where the facial piercings worn throughout belonged to stylist Imruh Asha.
Dazed described North’s overall style as incorporating a mixture of real and fake piercings. Beyond body jewelry, North opened up about wearing fake facial piercing stickers while posing on the cover, noting that her neon mane was inspired by the Japanese virtual pop star Hatsune Miku. All I want is blue hair and piercings,
she said, adding that Hatsune’s blue twin tails are always the inspiration and calling the virtual pop star that’s just my twin for real.
Asked to name her “holy grail” fashion piece, she chose a Michael Jackson jacket that her mother, Kim Kardashian, gave her years earlier.
From Social Media Criticism to Family Boundaries
North’s public experimentation with piercings and bold aesthetics began late last summer, when she was spotted in Rome with studs in her finger. Mom Kardashian was widely criticized on social media at the time for allowing North to make such a “dangerous” choice. Critics wrote online, Who the f–k lets their 12 year old have piercings? And who the f–k pierces a 12 year old? My kid didn’t even have her ears pierced at 12,
and It already looks rejected and painful… Poor girl.
Kim Kardashian, who was present for the shoot, previously defended her daughter’s edgy sense of style during a January episode of Khloé Kardashian’s Khloé in Wonderland
podcast. I’m not a judgmental person like that, so I try not to pay attention to it,
she said, adding, Northie actually has a lot of rules, [but] the one area is I do let her express herself and I let her do that. I love her for that.
She also noted that North has been wearing a fake septum ring
since she was in the first grade. In November 2025, Kim opened up about the time North hit back at haters during an episode of Complex’s “GOAT Talk” YouTube series.
Music Career Milestones and Personal Style
Kanye West’s daughter North West has also followed in her parents’ footsteps by making music and embracing bold fashion choices. The “Aishite” singer released a standalone single titled Piercing on My Hand
this year. She has continued showcasing her style by debuting her now-trademark blue hair on her mother’s Instagram Stories, alongside dermal piercings on her thighs shown on her and her mother’s joint TikTok account, featuring two metal studs placed in the center of each thigh. Over the course of a year, she has also gotten dermal piercings on her hand, studs on her cheeks, and several finger piercings.
