The leaked PlayStation Plus Essential line-up for September 2026 brings three distinct titles to subscribers starting September 1. Headlined by tactical shooter Sniper Elite: Resistance, the monthly offering also includes pixel-art role-playing game Chained Echoes and open-world sandbox Wobbly Life, according to reporting from Dealabs insider billbil-kun.
PlayStation Plus subscribers are getting an early look at next month’s essential tier rewards. The upcoming monthly drops for September 2026 leaked online ahead of Sony’s formal announcement expected from the publisher. The leaked roster covers three diverse games spanning tactical combat, retro-inspired role-playing, and physics-driven sandbox multiplayer. PlayStation Plus Essential is the first tier in the subscription service that provides players with a handful of games to add to their library each month, along with discounts and multiplayer. After PlayStation Plus Essential, players can choose PS Plus Extra or Premium.
As a reminder, players have until September 1 to claim August’s trio of titles for PS Plus members. Those offerings include Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition, Big Walk and Signalis. Dying Light 2 is an open world co-op zombie game, whereas Big Walk is a co-op puzzle game for up to 12 players. Signalis is a single-player survival-horror game inspired by the classics of the genre, but with a sci-fi twist. All three games will be available from September 1 to October 6.
Sniper Elite: Resistance Leads the September Roster
Set in 1944 during the Nazi occupation of Europe, the game places you behind the long gun barrel of a British agent infiltrating Nazi-occupied Europe. The story runs parallel to the events of Sniper Elite 5, but there’s no downside to having not played that game. You’ll pick up as Special Operations Executive Harry Hawker after he discovers the Wunderwaffe, a weapon so powerful that it could secure victory in the war for the Nazis. Hawker must work alongside the French Resistance to make sure the weapon is eliminated and never reaches the Reich’s arsenal.

“A solid stealth-based shooter,” is how IGN’s Sniper Elite: Resistance review described the game, affording it a 6/10 score. “It fails to set its sights high enough in order to pull off a truly spectacular execution,” we added.
The third-person tactical shooter was originally released in 2025 to somewhat mixed reviews, though it was well received by players when it launched last year. If you enjoy the likes of Battlefield and Call of Duty, you should get a kick out of this 2025 third-person shooter, which is perhaps slightly gorier than those other franchises with some pretty gnarly kills.
Chained Echoes and Wobbly Life Round Out the Essential Tier
Joining the tactical shooter are two very different gaming experiences. Released back in 2022, the classic Japanese role-playing game inspired Chained Echoes is next on the roster. Inspired by classics such as Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 4, this retro-feeling RPG proudly wears its influences on its sleeve — but is no worse off for doing so. Developed by Umami Tiger, this is a retro-inspired pixel-art RPG that follows a group of heroes as they travel around the continent of Valandis, attempting to bring an end to a war.

Lastly, there’s Wobbly Life. This colorful open-world sandbox launched last year and lets you muck about with friends to complete jobs, earn money, and own houses. Wobbly Life is an open world physics sandbox game.
