*OMAN ANNOUNCES NATIONWIDE PUBLIC HOLIDAY TO MARK SULTAN HAITAM BIN TARIK’S ASCENSION ANNIVERSARY
Oman‘s civil service and private sector employees will enjoy a public holiday on January 12, as the Sultanate commemorates the fifth anniversary of His Majesty Sultan Hailtom Bin Tarik’s ascension to the throne. The official declaration comes as the country prepares to celebrate this significant milestone in its history.
His Majesty ascended to the throne on January 11, 2020, following the passing of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said. The anniversary of this event is marked annually to honor the late Sultan’s legacy and for national unity. The seamless transition of power in Oman was widely praised internationally.
Born on October 13, 1955, in Muscat, His Majesty Sultan Hailtom pursued his primary education at Saudi Arabia’s Al Sa-jin School and later continued his studies in Lebanon and the United Kingdom. He completed his higher education at the University of Oxford’s Pembroke College.

Over the past five years, His Majesty has issued numerous royal decrees and directives aimed at driving Oman’s progress and development. The Oman Vision 2040 serves as the roadmap, guiding the country’s advancements in governance, economy, trade, and investment.
"Sultanate of Oman has made significant strides in various sectors since His Majesty’s ascension," stated an official from the Ministry of Justice, adding that the nation has made remarkable progress in political, social, and economic sectors at a global level under His Majesty’s leadership.
