Title: Oslo Wakes Up to Snow, Briefly Chilling Hearts for Christmas
Oslo residents woke up to a winter wonderland this Tuesday morning, with snow blanketing the Norwegian capital. While residents may be experiencing a white Christmas, meteorological services like Yr.no are predicting a mix of warm temperatures and rain later in the day, indicating the snow might not last.
The Meteorological Institute has warned drivers to be cautious, especially as roads may become slippery. Other central parts of eastern Norway, such as Asker, have also been transformed by the early-morning snowfall.
"[Oslo’s residents] can enjoy their mini-white Christmas for now," says Meteorologist Anne Solveig Andersen. However, she adds, "Warm air is on its way from the coast, gradually replacing the snow with rain in many places." Already, Kjevik Airport in Kristiansand has reported temperatures above zero degrees Celsius.
In other parts of the country, regions like Nordland are expected to see a mix of rain and snow, while Trøndelag is expected to have a snowier start before the warm air arrives.
Yet, all is not lost for those dreaming of a white Christmas. Parts of eastern Norway, like the area around K Desa , offer a glimpse of the wintery scene residents might have hoped for.
But as temperatures set to rise, the snow may melt away, along with the brief illusion of a truly white Christmas in Oslo.
