However, some insurers will only cover you for airline bankruptcy if you have purchased an optional add-on with this included.
BA is canceling more than 200 flights from March 16-28. Interested people are routes from London to New York, France, Austria, Belgium, Germany and Ireland.
BA customers will be offered an alternative flight for a later date or a full refund.
Ryanair has said it will cut a quarter of its scheduled flights to and from Italy. This will last from March 17 to April 8. Ryanair customers are able to rebook or redirect their flights or request a refund.
Easyjet is also canceling a number of flights, mainly to and from Italy, between 13 and 31 March. Customers are redirected, moved to different flights or a full refund is offered.
