A Bulgarian woman returning from vacation was in for a harsh surprise when she received her parking bill at Sofia Airport’s Terminal 2. The total? An eye-watering 840 Bulgarian Levs (approximately $470 USD) for a 10-day stay. She expected to pay around 110 Levs (around $62 USD).

"I come back to Bulgaria and find out I have to pay 840 Levs for parking for 10 days… instead of 110 Levs, just because the prices were changed since December 1st," she expressed her outrage on Facebook, attaching a cash register receipt as evidence. "The R5 parking, the luxurious ‘golden’ one, where sheikhs leave their cars, is the most expensive – it charges 420 Levs for 7 days," she added, urging others to see the well-organized tables at the luxurious parking area.

The woman, who chose the most expensive option at the airport, the R5 parking lot, was advised by the relevant service to file a complaint. The R5, located near the Terminal 2’s arrivals and departures halls, charges 6 Levs per hour as a minimum, with an additional 60 Levs per day for any stay longer than a day. In comparison, the R3 parking lot charges 115 Levs for a week, with an additional 10 Levs per day. The VIP zone parking at Terminal 1 offers a more economical option for longer stays.

So, if you’re planning to leave your car at Sofia Airport, make sure to check the updated parking fees and choose the most suitable option for your stay. The airport’s website provides detailed information about the parking services and rates.
