The analysis examined data from 786 adult participants enrolled in the Habitual Diet and Avocado Trial, a multicenter randomized controlled study. Adults age 25 and older qualified for the intervention based on specific waist circumference thresholds. Men needed a waist measurement exceeding 40 inches, while women were eligible if their waist measurement surpassed 35 inches.

Participants were divided into two groups for the six-month duration. One group maintained its regular diet and physical activity, while the intervention group received one avocado per day with instructions to eat it while otherwise keeping their normal routines.
