Poland Activates Military Aviation Amid Massive Russian Strikes on Ukraine

Poland has put its military aviation on high alert following a massive Russian attack on Ukraine, according to a statement released on Wednesday, December 25. The move comes in response to potential threats that could impact western parts of the country.

"Attention, due to Russia‘s airborne attack, which could strike targets including those in western Ukraine, Poland’s military aviation is now operational in our airspace," the statement reads.

The Operational Command reports that combat aircraft, air defense systems, and radar surveillance units have been activated in Poland to safeguard territories adjacent to Ukraine.

Massive Russian Strike on Ukraine

The offensive began late on December 24 when Russian forces launched drones against Ukraine. Overnight on December 25, the Ukrainian Air Force reported the detection of "Kалибр" cruise missile launches from the Black Sea and ballistic missile launches. Enemy rocket movement has since been tracked across various regions of Ukraine, with the city of Kharkiv reportedly coming under heavy fire.

In response to the intense attack, Ukraine’s energy providers have implemented power outage schedules.
