Police Advises Caution on Alternate Puncak Route; One-Way System and Increased Patrols Planned
Article:
As the clock ticks down to New Year’s Eve 2025, motorists traveling from Bogor to Cianjur, West Java, via the Puncak route can expect heavy traffic and potential route closures. While alternate routes via Jonggol and Sukabumi are available, the alternate Puncak-Bogor route is a popular choice for many drivers heading to the popular tourist destination.
However, the West Java Police has issued a warning to drivers, advising against using the alternate Puncak route, especially for those unfamiliar with the terrain. "We strongly advise against using the alternate route if your destination is not nearby," said AKBP Edwin Affandi, the Head of Traffic Operations at the West Java Police. "Without knowledge of the road, drivers risk getting lost, and the route’s narrow conditions pose safety hazards."
The alternate Puncak route, though scenic, is relatively narrow and can be challenging to navigate, especially for inexperienced drivers. To mitigate potential issues, the police plan to implement a one-way system during peak hours. "We will designate one-way traffic in the morning for ascending vehicles and in the evening for descending vehicles," Affandi explained.
In addition to the one-way system, the police will also enhance patrols along the alternate route to prevent illegal activities and ensure the safety of travelers. "We will increase our presence and work closely with the military to deter any potential disruptions or harassment of road users," Affandi said.
As the holiday season approaches, motorists are urged to plan their journeys accordingly, allowing ample time for travel and being aware of potential route closures. For the latest updates and road condition reports, follow CNN Indonesia for real-time traffic news and travel advisories.
