Authorities are continuing a large-scale search operation off Victoria’s east coast after a 12-year-old boy from Melbourne disappeared while swimming yesterday. The boy, identified as Danny, was last seen at No. 4 Beach in Venus Bay around 11:30 am.
Search Efforts Underway
Danny’s family, from Taylors Hill, and members of the public initiated a search after losing sight of him. The search continued late into the night, involving the Air Wing, water police, the coast guard, SES, Life Saving Victoria, and local police, but yielded no results.
The search resumed at 5:00 am today, and is being aided by a large vessel arriving from Melbourne this afternoon. Acting Senior Sergeant Matt Wade stated, “We’ll continue to search today whilst it’s safe to do so and whilst we’ve got light.”

Danny is approximately 170 centimetres tall with a thin build, dark, short hair, and dark eyes. He was last seen wearing a navy blue rash vest and navy blue boardshorts with a white stripe.
