Search Continues for Missing 13-year-old boy from Konaare village in Bulgaria
Thirteen days since NikfarToktay (Nik) went missing in Konaare, Bulgaria, his family, locals, and authorities remain hopeful but tireless in their search for the 13-year-old boy with Down syndrome.
Mission Expanded
The extensive search operation, involving police, gendarmes, military personnel, and volunteers, has expanded its perimeter towards Nikolaevo. Despite the chilling temperatures and passage of time, the community’s resolve to find Nik alive remains unbroken. The discovery of Nik’s dog on the seventh day of the search provided only temporary succor, as the animal failed to lead police to the missing boy. Nevertheless, Interior Minister Aтанас Иликов（Atanas Ilkov) has vowed that the search will persist until all possibilities are exhausted, even enlisting the support of the military.
A Community United
Nik, affectionately known as Nikki to his family and friends, was last seen around 1 p.m. on December 17, 2022. His absence has sent shockwaves through his tight-knit community, inspiring volunteers to join the search efforts en masse. Speaking recently, Ilkov reiterated his commitment to exploring every avenue in the search for Nik, expressing hope that the boy would be found safe and well.
Hope Persists
While the optimism of his earliest days in captivity has undoubtedly waned in the face of widening search zones and diminishing daytime hours, the community of Konaare is far from abandoning hope. united in their desire to bring Nik home, they continue to pray for a miracle while resolutely combing the streets, forests, and open spaces of their village for any sign of the missing boy.
Situated in the municipality of Gurkovo, Konaare is a small Bulgarian village, where each of its inhabitants shares an unspoken bond; the kind forged out of shared hardship, experience, and love. That bond is now at the heart of the search for Nik, a boy whose life continues to influence the slim possibility of a happy ending.
