A significant farmersprotest has kicked off in Warsaw, with demonstrations set to continue late into the evening. This news comes directly from "Europaφέςua," citing Polsat News as the source. The event, which commenced today, is expected to cause traffic disruptions and adjustments to public transport schedules.

The demonstration, slated to begin at 2 PM before the European Commission’s representation, will proceed along a predetermined route: Svetokrzyska, Nowy Swiat, Krakowskie Przedmiescie, Miodowa, Senatorska, and finally, Novey Swiat.

The farmers, opposing agreements they deem detrimental to their industry, have gathered under the unified slogan "5xSTOP!" Their frustrations include the EU’s free trade agreement with Latin America, the Green Deal, imports of agricultural products from Ukraine, environmental concerns, and the perceived decline of the Polish economy.

Warsaw police have cautioned drivers about potential road difficulties and reminded protesters that motorized agricultural equipment and slow-moving vehicles are not permitted to enter the city. Trafficking in such vehicles could result in penalties.

Last December 3, 2024, farmers staged similar protests in multiple Polish cities. Earlier that month, they demonstrated at the Medyka border crossing with Ukraine, demanding the retention of the 2023 agricultural tax rate and expressing apprehensions about the EU’s trade deal with Mercosur.

This protest marks the farmers’ renewed efforts to voice their concerns and dissatisfaction with current policies affecting their livelihoods. As the demonstration continues, it remains to be seen how the situation will evolve and what impact, if any, these protests will have on Polish and EU agricultural policies.
