The official exchange rate for Thursday, January 6, 2025, has been set by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) at 42.0889 Ukrainian Hryvnia (UAH) to 1 USD, marking a 0.0504 UAH increase from the previous day. This new rate surpasses the previous daily maximum of 42.039 UAH per USD, recorded on December 31, 2024.

The NBU also announced an official exchange rate of 43.3347 UAH for 1 Euro, which shows a decrease of 0.0406 UAH from the previous day’s rate.

On the interbank market, the USD exchange rate climbed by 2 kopecks to stand at 42.11-42.14 UAH (buying-selling) as of the close of trading on Wednesday, compared to the previous day’s closing rate.

Meanwhile, on the cash market, the USD exchange rate increased by 5 kopecks to settle at 42.50 UAH.

NBU Statement

NBU Governor, Andrei Pyshnyi, reassured the public by stating that the National Bank of Ukraine will prioritize stability in the foreign exchange market in 2025. Pyshnyi underscored the NBU’s commitment to avoiding predictions regarding currency rates and emphasized that the budgeted currency rate, currently set at 45 UAH per USD, is not the bank’s primary objective.
