Breaking: Motorcycle Gangs Hound Cars, Police Under Internal Investigation for Neglecting Complaint

Bekasi, CNN Indonesia — A terrifying incident in Jatiwarna, Bekasi, West Java, has gone viral, showing a car driver being harassed by three motorcycle-riding gang members. The victim claims that the police at Pondok Gede Police Station, Bekasi, did not take his report seriously.

The footage, circulating widely on social media, shows a motorcyclist, accompanied by two other riders, tailgating a car and angrily banging on its window. The car driver is seen pleading for help from nearby residents.

Initially, the motorcyclist was driving zig-zag ahead of the car, causing disturbances to other drivers. The car driver then overtook him, which seemingly enraged the motorcyclist, leading to the chase and harassment.

Police spokesman Kompol Bambang Sugiharto addressed the viral video, confirming that an internal investigation is underway. Six officers who were on duty that day are being probed by the Polda Metro Bekasi’s Propam.

"As of now, the officers who were on duty that day have undergone internal disciplinary investigation at the Metro Bekasi City Police Department. There are about six people involved," Kompol Bambang stated on Friday (3/1).

If the investigation finds any violation of discipline or standard operating procedures, the officers will face disciplinary action.

Despite the video’s circulation, no official report has been filed by the victim. Kompol Bambang urges the victim to come forward and lodge a formal complaint to facilitate further police action.

"We’ve reached out to the victim. We urge the victim to file an official report, or we’ll send someone to where they live to assist in filing the report," Kompol Bambang said.
