Power of Dreams Reunite for New Music and Tour

Dublin indie outfit Power of Dreams have reunited with their original line-up for the first time in a decade, releasing a new single titled “Somebody Somewhere” on Friday alongside a live performance at Opium in Dublin, thesun.ie reported.

Power of Dreams Reunites for First Live Shows in a Decade

The Walkinstown group returned to the live circuit following a 10-year hiatus since their last performance at London’s Forum in 2014. Singer Craig Walker stated that the reunion stemmed from an offer to play Forest Fest last summer, which prompted the band to set up their first group chat.

“We got offered Forest Fest which resulted in our first group Whatsapp, then you quickly realise these three other guys have been your friends for decades and you have shared so many amazing experiences in the past creating music and making people happy at shows,” Walker told thesun.ie.

Band releases new track ahead of live shows

The band released their new track “Somebody Somewhere” on Friday to coincide with their capital venue appearance. Following the Dublin date, the schedule includes a performance at Mike The Pies in Listowel, Co Kerry, on Thursday, followed by a set at London’s O2 Forum on Saturday supporting The Mission.

Power Of Dreams – Somebody Somewhere

The current tour follows a well-documented history that began when the group signed to Polydor Records in 1989. During their initial run, the band recorded four albums, toured internationally, and once shared a bill with a then-unknown Jeff Buckley at New York’s Sin-é cafe.

Group sells branded condoms to bypass Irish laws

During their early years in 1990, the band bypassed strict Irish laws regarding contraception by selling custom-branded merchandise at their gigs. Condoms were illegal in Ireland at the time, prompting the group to manufacture their own items featuring the band logo.

“Our fanbase in 1990 was kids our age and we got around the law by making our own condoms with the band logo on,” Walker told thesun.ie. “Mostly we couldn’t keep up with the sales of condoms at shows, and we regularly ran out every night which tells you it was a success.”

Frontman achieves European dance hit before writing new material

Following the initial tenure of Power of Dreams, frontman Craig Walker achieved further musical success as part of the duo Them There alongside Phoebe Killdeer. Their single “Fade Out Lines” became a European electronic dance hit and earned a spot on a personal playlist curated by former US President Barack Obama.

After receiving an overwhelming audience reception at Forest Fest, Walker confirmed that the group immediately started working on new material together. The band has not yet announced a full-length album or detailed touring plans beyond their current weekend commitments in Ireland and the UK.
