President Radev Delivers 2025“>New Year’s Message: 2025 Holds Challenges and Opportunities

Bourgas[-], Bulgaria – President Rumen Radev offered his traditional New Year’s address minutes before the stroke of midnight, describing 2024 as a year filled with risks. According to the president, the world faces intensifying wars, democratic struggles, and looming trials. However, he remains optimistic that Bulgaria can rise to these challenges and find unity in the face of global turmoil.

"A minute separates us from the New Year of 2025," Radev began, "We welcome it with loved ones, hope, and good wishes. Together, let us believe that this year will bring health and prosperity."

In his speech, Radev acknowledged Bulgaria’s political uncertainty, with parliamentary elections failing to provide a clear path out of the chronic political crisis. He called on citizens to actively participate and exercise control, cautioning that without their engagement, the state’s ability to guarantee basic needs weakens, social relations strain, and national potential goes untapped – leaving the future hostage to selfish interests.

However, the President also struck an optimistic tone, citing everyday Bulgarians – from scientists and engineers to artists and athletes – who contribute to the country’s progress through their dedication and hard work. He expressed gratitude to these individuals and all parents raising Bulgaria’s children.

Radev also acknowledged essential workers who will be on duty during the holiday, extending his appreciation to medical professionals, police officers, military personnel, and emergency teams.

Looking ahead to 2025, President Radev expressed confidence that Bulgaria will find the wisdom and strength to overcome trials and understand that unity is the path to preserving the nation in an era of global upheaval. He believes that Bulgarians have the talents and will to establish the country as a strong, sovereign, and prosperous state on the European map.

As he concluded, Radev wished his fellow Bulgarians peace, health, and faith in the good ahead. He hoped that the New Year would bring joy, light, and a fresh start for everyone.

"Happy New Year of 2025!" he exclaimed in finale.
